This template includes the following dependencies commonly used in Next.js projects:

  • Tailwind CSS: A utility-first CSS framework for creating responsive and custom designs with ease.
  • ShadCn: A collection of reusable components that can be integrated into your app.
  • Class Variance Authority: A library for managing class names with a consistent API.
  • Lucide React: A set of customizable, scalable icons.

TypeScript Support

This template is configured to work with TypeScript, providing type safety and an enhanced development experience.

Custom Components

The template includes a set of essential components to get you started. These components are ready to be customized and extended to suit your project needs.

Getting Started

To create a new project using this template, follow these steps:

  1. Open your terminal.

  2. Run the following command and follow the prompts:

    npx @edward-hyde/template-next
    
  3. You will be asked to enter a name for your project. Press Enter for the default name 'my-next-app'.

  4. Once the project is generated, navigate into the newly created directory:

    cd PROJECT-NAME
    
  5. Start the development server:

    npm run dev
    # or
    yarn dev
    # or
    pnpm dev
    # or
    bun dev
    
  6. Open your browser and visit http://localhost:3000 to see your new Next.js project in action.

Additional CLI Features

Current Directory Cloning

Template-NEXT allows you to clone the template directly into your working directory, useful for adding it to existing project structures. Run:

npx @edward-hyde/template-next .

The CLI will walk you through the setup process, offering clearer instructions and tailored steps based on your choices.
